Health classes explained
The categories: Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard Plus, Standard—their definitions and factors affecting placement.
Insurers rank term by rate class: Preferred Plus (Super Preferred, Preferred Best variants), Preferred, Standard Plus, Standard, then table ratings for above-standard risk. Smokers get parallel, higher-priced classes.
What underwriters look at
Height/weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, family disease history (heart/cancer before 60), traffic record, medication record, job, leisure pursuits, tobacco/nicotine. Best class demands clean marks in nearly all; Preferred permits some; Standard Plus and Standard accept managed issues like controlled blood pressure.
How to use the quote tool
Your health self-assessment: Excellent → Preferred Plus, Very good → Preferred, Good → Standard Plus, Average → Standard. Underwriting confirms your final placement. Uncertain? Quote both classes and compare; the app determines reality. Picking high won't cut the bill, only skew the estimate.
